Beautiful vintage women's ceremonial huipil panel from Nebaj, Guatemala. Could be from Cotzal. Probably from the mid to 3
rd
quarter of20th century. This is the center panel only. It would have originally had plain white panels on each side. Cotton with some silk floss weft stripes. The supplementary wefts seem to be mostly mercerized cotton with some plain cotton, some may be silk. The motifs are typical birds and geometric designs. Typical neck trim and embroidery.
Good condition. Possibly never used. Minor wear. See photographs, which were taken outdoors without a flash on a sunny day. If you would like more photographs, please message me.
