ANTIQUE VINTAGE MENS CEREMONIAL COFRADIA TZUTE NAHUALA, GUATEMALA HUIPIL TEXTILE

Description

Beautiful vintage men's ceremonial tzute from Nahuala, Guatemala. Probably from the 3
rd
quarter of the 20th century. Rust-colored supplementary wefts seem to be silk floss or rayon. The orange and yellow look like mercerized cotton.
Good condition. Minor wear with small holes, some stains, which I haven't tried to remove. Some dye bleed from darker yarns, which is intentional. This is typical of Nahuala textiles from this period. I haven't tried to remove this. See photographs, which were taken outdoors without a flash on a sunny day.
