    Description

Up for sale is a large specimen of fluorescent common opal from the Twin Mountains, Del Norte, Colorado! This specimen fluoresces bright green in shortwave UV light. It weighs 5 lbs 6 oz and measures approximately 8" x 6" x 2 1/2". A very thin layer of hyalite may be present on parts of the common opal, but it is hard to tell for sure. Pictures were taken dry indoors (ruler for scale). UV photos were taken with an 11 watt shortwave UV lamp.
    Please note that a
    shortwave UV
lamp is required to see the fluorescence. Longwave UV and unfiltered blacklights will show little to no fluorescence.
