Description
Nice daylight and fluorescent specimen with rare Hydrohaeterolite and Chalcophanite on a matrix of Willemite (SW/UV green), Calcite (SW/UV red) and Franklinite crystals. Hydrohaeterolite is a zinc manganese oxide hydrate and is typically brown to black and forms botryoidal masses (grapelike) on this specimen. Chalcophanite is a zinc, iron, manganese oxide and forms dull black clumps and masses and dark reddish platy coatings.Hydrohaeterolite and Chalcophanite were typically found in the "mud zone" of the Sterling Hill Mine which is the type locality for these minerals.
