Fluorescent Mineral Collector Pieces
Featured here is a mixed lot of six cut pieces of fluorescent minerals for cab cutting rough, or fluorescent mineral specimens.  They are:
one piece of Svabite from Langban, Sweden that fluoresces orange (SW),
one piece of Wollastonite from Jakobsberg Mine, Filipstad, Varmland, Sweden that fluoresces yellow (SW)
,
one piece of Calcite with a little Willemite from Sterling Hill, Ogdensburg, NJ
that fluoresces red with some green (SW),
one piece of fluorescent Agate from the "Anderson Mine" in AZ that fluoresces green (SW),
one piece of Calcite from the "Big Spar Mine" in AZ that fluoresces red (SW),
and one piece of Orange Calcite from Montana that fluoresces yellow (SW and LW).
An average
piece in this lot measures up to 1-1/8" width by up to 2-3/4" length by up to 3/8" thick.
The first two photos are SW
, the next two are LW, and the last three are daylight.
This lot weighs about 8 ounces.
We use a 36 watt fluorescent lamp specifically designed for viewing displayed fluorescent minerals. The lamp was built and designed by "Way Too Cool" of AZ (they have a great website with lots of good info on fluorescent minerals and lamps). Our minerals are photographed dry, and no type of of photo enhancement is employed, as it appears under our lamp is how it photoed and is presented on our listings. We display shortwave photos first, then long wave photos. If the mineral does not fluoresce under one those waves, it will be noted in the listing.  If you intend to view these items with a poster lamp they will not fluoresce as shown.  They will fluoresce as shown if you are using a fluorescent mineral lamp, designed for that purpose.
Please remember there are many factors to consider, such as how your computer monitor displays the photos. Also SW minerals will not fluoresce with most of the UV flashlights.
We use bubble wrap to protect smaller and fragile items to insure safe shipping. All rough is photographed wet to show what the colors will look like polished.
