Description
This is a rock weighing 3.6 ounces (104 g), and measuring approximately 2.50 inches X 2.00 inches X 1.00 inches (6.2 cm X 5.0 cm X 2.4 cm).From the Gerry McLaughlin collection.
This is Crazy Calcite from the Franklin Mine in New Jersey. Locally called this because of the calcite and dolomite spots in matrix.
What makes Crazy Calcite so special is that the calcite fluoresces the usual red/orange while the dolomite fluoresces purple!
Nice contrast!
This rock also has an unknown blue fluorescence in longwave.
See photos #2 and 7.
Photos #1, 3, and 5 are shown in shortwave UV.
Photos #2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 are in longwave using the Convoy 365nm S2+ UV light, where it shows a nice orange color.
(While it would also show a nice orange color using the FyrFly longwave light, do NOT expect any significant color using a Way Too Cool or similar lamp, no matter how powerful.
I have a 60-watt longwave Way Too Cool lamp and while a good lamp, the Convoy puts it to shame when it comes to longwave UV.)
WE BUY OLD FRANKLIN AND STERLING HILL COLLECTIONS, INCLUDING “BASEMENT ROCK BOXES”!
NOTE: Typical Blacklight UV lights may not display any color.
Also, the intensity of the color will vary depending on the strength of the lamp you have.
For a good quality Shortwave lamp at a reasonable price, I suggest you consider the DRK lamp by Engenious Designs or the SuperBright III. These manufacturers sell these lamps directly to you (and they are not related to me in any way, and I do not sell these lamps.)
I have set the shipping as First-Class Mail.
If you plan on bidding on MORE than one rock, let me know BEFORE you pay your invoice, so I may combine shipping to save you money.
I can often combine five or six rocks in one box.
If you pay first, I must ship immediately and cannot offer combined shipping rates.
**NOTE:
I cannot combine shipping on International orders.**
