    Description

HUGE FLUORESCENT CALCITE - 18.4 cm - CAMPBELL MINE, BISBEE, ARIZONA 23327
HUGE FLUORESCENT CALCITE - 18.4 cm - CAMPBELL MINE, BISBEE, ARIZONA
This is a very good example of fluorescent calcite that is seldom seen from Bisbee. This is an extra large cabinet specimen of calcite that has bright orange fluorescence under the UV SW lamp. Massive calcite and hematite veins are marbled in a way that produces a striking visual effect under the lamp. Minor chalcotrichite is also present.
It’s a great old collection piece from historic Bisbee, ‘Queen of the Copper Camps’. Bisbee mines have been closed for more than 40 years (1975). Campbell is Bisbee's deepest mine and was worked until all production ceased.
