JH13639 Quartz Crystals with Petroleum Inclusions in Vug, NM

Description

Up for bid is vug full of Quartz Crystals with Petroleum Inclusions that fluoresce Blue-White and Yellow under all wavelengths of UV light. The vug that is lined with Calcite that fluoresce dim red under MW UV. (picture was taken under MW) The Quartz crystal are up to 0.4” across and the vug is about 1.1” across. These came from an undisclosed location in NM. (My research indicates this may be in Sierra County)
The vugs these Quartz crystals come in remind me of the “Herkimer Diamonds” from the Herkimer region of New York State. The fluorescent petroleum inclusions look very similar to those found in similar quartz crystals from Pakistan, sometimes referred to as “Pakimers”. People are calling this new material “Enchanted Diamonds” since New Mexico is the land of enchantment.
Quartz crystals in Matrix are rare from Herkimer New York since the matrix is usually very hard and the crystals commonly break off matrix during collecting. Very few of the Herkimer specimens have fluorescent inclusions. Matrix specimens from Pakistan are rarer still because of the high cost of shipping. If you have been looking for a nice Quartz with fluorescent inclusions on Matrix here is your chance!
