This is an interesting fluorescent white and red Calcite from a unique location I discovered and named Hydra Springs. That's a large fluorescent mineral complex in a remote part of San Benito County in Central California. I discovered this Calcite on a mountainside next to the main Hydra Springs site. I call it Hydra Hill. The fluorescent minerals on the hill are completely different than the main Hydra Springs site. They have fluorescent red, white, blue, purple and yellow Calcite frequently all in one piece. They're beautiful but most of those are on the smaller size. This piece is pretty big by comparison.

. Please keep that in mind before buying it. It's a nice example of the ability of Mid-Wave to make Calcite's fluorescent red "pop" as they say, to intensify it.
In addition to the white and red fluorescence there is some additional fluorescence as you can see in the pics. It's like a very pale blue. Not sure what it is but it appears to be a different mineral or maybe something altered the surface of the Calcite.
Not shown is a small area of pale orange fluorescence on the top. It's minor but it's interesting.
This beautiful fluorescent mineral specimen is from a unique location with a cool shape and beautiful fluorescence. It's a one-a-kind. That's why the price must remain high.
The UV pics are accurate. I used my 3-Way lamp made by Way Too Cool which has all 3 wavelengths.
I didn't lamp it with one of the popular new super-powerful hand UV lights that over-expose everything because they blast out so much UV. If you have one it will be interesting to see how this piece looks. Probably pretty wild!
