Description
This pretty specimen of tremolite, a calcium magnesium silicate, is from Balmat, NY. In daylight the rock looks like a mass of white and light grey crystals (photos #7 & 8).Using our
long wave Convoy S2 flashlight the specimen glows
bright orange
with a
light blue
coating - talc?

, and under
short wave lamp the specimen also glows
bright orange
with some darker
blue coating
(photos #4-6)
. Note: Any
tiny white or pink spots glowing in the uv photos is the result of light from the lamp reflecting off of the crystals.
