VINTAGE HUIPIL – CEREMONIAL SOBRE - COMALAPA, GUATEMALA TEXTILE PONCHO TUNIC

Beautiful vintage ceremonial sobre huipil from Comalapa, Guatemala. Probably from the third quarter of the 20
th
century. Extravagant floral and bird(peacocks?) motifs created by supplementary wefts in yarns and extensive silk floss. Cotton base, which is brown and imitates natural brown cotton(ixcaco). It looks more like ixcaco in person than on my monitor.
Very good condition for age. Seems unused. Side seams not closed. See photographs, which were taken outdoors without a flash on a sunny day. If you would like more photographs, please message me.
Size: 48” long (half if used as a huipil) x 42” wide, neck: about 10-1/2” open seam in center
