VINTAGE HUIPIL – CEREMONIAL SOBRE - TECPAN, GUATEMALA TEXTILE PONCHO TUNIC

Beautiful vintage ceremonial sobre huipil from Tecpan, Guatemala. Probably from the third quarter of the 20
th
century. Typical supplementary weft motifs of geometric shapes in silk floss and cotton with commercial (French?) ribbon (possibly silk) around neck with long ends to tie.
Good condition. Some pulled threads. A few small, repaired holes on one side. The largest is 1/2” x 5/8”, the others are much smaller. Some loss to design on ribbon. Some loss to embroidery around armhole. The seam under one armhole is open about 5”. See photographs, which were taken outdoors without a flash on a sunny day.
