VINTAGE HUIPIL – SAN JUAN COTZAL, GUATEMALA TEXTILE PONCHO TUNIC - A

Description

Beautiful vintage huipil from San Juan Cotzal, Guatemala. Probably from the third quarter of the 20
th
century. Typical motifs created by supplementary wefts in different cotton yarns. Cotton base.
The neck is trimmed in chain stitched chevrons with four similar half ovals to represent the cardinal directions.
Good to fair condition for age. Some wear. Stains, which I haven't tried to remove. Hole at neck trim. Fraying at edges of armholes. Pulled threads. See photographs, which were taken outdoors without a flash on a sunny day. If you would like more photographs, please message me.
