Vintage Men's Red Wool Handloom Black Soutache Guatemalan Chaqueta Folk Jacket
This vintage men's red wool handloom black soutache Guatemalan chaqueta folk jacket dates from the 1980s. It is made of a red wool fabric hand woven on a back strap loom, with black soutache raised braided rope embroidery creating decorative spiral scrolling patterns, a bird design on each sleeve and rickrack trim edging. This marvelous men's Guatemalan ceremonial chaqueta folk jacket has a short bolero cropped style, with a black wool fold over lapel collar, long full sleeves, four front flap pockets, an open front with no closure, is fully lined in a black cotton fabric and has a "Made in Guatemala" Size Large tag sewn inside. The jacket measures 23 inches long, with a 42 inch chest, 36 inch waist, 21 inch long sleeves and a 17 inch back. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of Guatemalan chaqueta folk costume wearable art!
