  • Condition: This vintage men's red wool handloom black soutache Guatemalan chaqueta folk jacket dates from the 1980s. It is made of a red wool fabric hand woven on a back strap loom, with black soutache raised braided rope embroidery creating decorative spiral scrolling patterns, a bird design on each sleeve and rickrack trim edging. This marvelous men's Guatemalan ceremonial chaqueta folk jacket has a short bolero cropped style, with a black wool fold over lapel collar, long full sleeves, four front flap pockets, an open front with no closure, is fully lined in a black cotton fabric and has a "Made in Guatemala" Size Large tag sewn inside. The jacket measures 23 inches long, with a 42 inch chest, 36 inch waist, 21 inch long sleeves and a 17 inch back. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of Guatemalan chaqueta folk costume wearable art.
