VINTAGE UNFINISHED HUIPIL, TACTIC OR TAMAHU GUATEMALA PONCHO TUNIC

Beautiful unfinished daily huipil from Tactic or Tamahu , Guatemala. Probably from the third or fourth quarter of the 20
th
century
.
All cotton. Supplementary wefts that create geometric motifs. It must have been sold to support a charity. There is a tag inside that says,“Sociedad Protectora del Nino,” which is still in existence. This huipil was probably made for a juvenile girl as the size is small.

Size:
28-1/2” wide average x 13-1/4” long average, which
could be 26-1/2”, if the side seams were opened.
